About Us

A Future of Informed Individuals

Probably…

Building exterior in Toronto, Canada

The future is looking complicated. Endlessly complicated. As we continue to create and interact, we naturally produce more information. Our goal at Probably Progress is to learn about how we actively shape information through language and communication, and how it shapes us.

What We’re Not

We’re not here to give you answers. As far as we know, we haven’t discovered the meaning of life. Probably Progress isn’t a self help blog telling you what you should and shouldn’t do. (Though we would prefer if you didn’t rob and/or murder us as a baseline.)

We’re also not here to tell you who you should listen to. The world we live in is full of opinions and beliefs. That is something to be celebrated, not combated. We are, however, interested in what others are doing with their words and methods of communication.

What We Are

Our only aim is to help people understand how they are shaping and being shaped by information. That means:

  1. Identifying core messages underneath piles and piles of fluff
  2. Highlighting the techniques used in persuasive messaging and how they’re intended to influence
  3. Considering how the individual and society are shaped by these messages and mechanics
  4. Crafting material for causes that we believe to be important
  5. Engaging in thought experiments and a little fun along the way through creative storytelling
  6. Leading by example through honesty, openness, and cooperation
